The author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem-Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, but discovers that the townspeople are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. Writer Gary Doberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal in the new version of “The Lot of Salem” is to make vampires scary again. He wants to get away from the more sexualized and romanticized undead that have flooded pop culture for most of the last quarter century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight and The Vampire Diaries. The film takes place at the end of the 1970s, as in the book. Mark’s nightstand is a Batman style nightstand featuring the 1989 Batman logo. Correction: the action takes place in 1975. The style of Mark’s Batman flashlight is similar to the 1989 style, but the 1974 Batman toys show that the same style was used in 1975. References Trog (1970). What makes the book a masterpiece is the slow flow. A nascent love intrigue. Sketches of strange things happening in the city. An incredible gathering of a gang of underdog heroes who united in perfect royal style. All this disappeared. The pace is largely erratic. Characters draw conclusions (always correct) without thinking. It is difficult to like any of the characters, because they all lack the depth necessary for the development of the story. There are some really amazing moments and little sparks of genius here. But, unfortunately, this device lacks teeth.
