The setting is enticing

Mikey Madison plays the title role, a New York lap dancer. Then the story grabs us. She unwisely marries (the immature son of a Russian oligarch) and finds herself in a terrible mess.

Striking locations too – Las Vegas and off-season Coney Island are cleverly captured

There is a standout performance from Madison, but all the performances are good. Nudity and an overload of sex are not fashionable in a mainstream picture, but this and the increasingly comical drama have a rare liveliness. Well over two hours is too long, but it almost holds our attention because we can’t even imagine how it will end.

The conclusion is not a disappointment

Stan completely becomes the character of Trump

This film was utterly brilliant from start to finish. The acting was definitely the best part and led by two extraordinary performances: Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong. This is the best work I have seen from Sebastian Stan, and one of the best works from Jeremy Strong (Succession is still his best).

He doesn't try mimicking him, but rather portrays a nuanced performance

In the best way possible, this film feels like it was made in the 1970s. The look, the atmosphere, and the performances really encapsulate the feel of 1970s films. One aspect I really loved about the film was that it was an actual good film.

Many Longlegs cryptic messages contain spelling errors and poor grammar when decoded

While hunting for a serial killer, an FBI agent discovers a series of occult clues that she must solve in order to put an end to his terrifying killing spree. This is an homage to the Zodiac Killer, who was also known for his coded messages containing typos that often made it difficult to decode his message. Although the film is set in the 1990s, the “The Price is Right” theme heard on TV is the version used since 2007. Longlegs: Oh!

Cage and Monroe are exceptional

Ding Dong Starring Nicolas Cage Composed by Osgood Perkins. I was way too excited for this movie, apparently the comparison at the beginning (Se7en, The Silence of the Lambs) and the style and vibe of the trailer led to my over-enthusiasm. Considering that this genre is relatively rare (mystery, thriller, horror), this is a good movie. It’s slow, but it doesn’t bother me at all.

I like that the mystery and components of the psychic personality are completely up to the viewer

This doesn’t help the relatively predictable plot and the huge missed opportunity to give this film the ending it deserves. Especially the ending is unbelievable, it doesn’t connect and as mentioned above, it was quite obvious (however during the movie I was hoping for a better, bigger twist). There’s a lot of atmospheric stuff in the background that’s beautifully captured visually, it’s a bit reminiscent of ‘It Follows’. Bottom line, lower your expectations, it’s not Se7en, which isn’t the point anyway, because comparisons aren’t usually helpful, and yet we often rely on them or place too much emphasis on them.

For some reason, people are bombarding this movie with reviews. This was a competent and clever sequel that lives up to its predecessor in almost every way. It helps that most of the original cast is there, as well as some welcome new faces.

Good job, Tim!

It’s also nice to have Tim Burton back in the director’s seat. He managed to keep the feel of the original and translate it enough to keep it stylish without feeling like a boring rehash. My only real gripe with the movie is that it takes a while to get to all the Beetlejuice storylines. Yes, there is a lot of backstory to cover between the original and the present, but some of it could have been condensed into shorter segments.

Overall, it is a faithful continuation of the original with all the crazy and weird stuff that the original has. Even if it takes a while to get going, once it does, you will be hooked. If you weren’t a fan of the original, this one won’t change your mind. However, if you were a fan and want more backstory, you can’t go wrong with this unnecessary but welcome sequel.
